Randy's Rodeo, San Antonio, Texas, October 28, 1975

"Every time we played in San Antonio, I was reminded of the first time, in 1975. The show, at a country-and-western club called Randy's Rodeo, was being promoted by a small local radio station, and as we arrived in town, we were amazed to hear them playing nothing but Rush songs (we only had two albums at the time, so there wasn't much variety) all day and night...with all that radio hype, the tiny roadhouse was packed (meaning a couple of hundred people), and that performance was the seed of an enduring popularity for the band in San Antonio." - Neil Peart, Roadshow

Prior to arriving in San Antonio, Texas, the local radio station KISS-FM had put us on heavy rotation for twenty-four hours, and we were thrown a lavish Texas barbecue, treated like superstars-not a band struggling to stay afloat, which in reality we were. At one venue, a former bowling alley and now a country and western bar, the show was a complete madhouse, with tickets oversold leading to people fighting to get in-a first for us! As Howard tells it, one of the good ole boy promoters pulled out a gun when challenged over the door count. Thankfully, a third party present calmed everyone down. (That wasn't the only time Herns had rightfully been freaked out by the appearance of a firearm during a gig settlement. According to him, earlier that year, at a club owned by a certain accomplished ex-Detroit Tigers pitcher, a gun was unnervingly placed on his desk as our money was being counted. Yikes, I'd rather be brushed back by a fastball than an effin' bullet!)" - Geddy Lee, My Effin' Life
